Despite getting sick two days before the race, we had a wonderful time in Boston. Every year I get a wicked cough that wipes me out. No joke. Every year. The thought had crossed my mind many times throughout the winter that maybe I had dodged it. But, no.
There was no sense getting upset about it or feeling cheated. What could I do other than go and give it my all.
We ate at the North End for dinner on Saturday night and went to the expo Sunday morning. The energy of the entire town was incredible — people wearing their marathon jackets everywhere!
At the expo, we met Katherine Switzer, one of the first women to run in the Boston Marathon in 1967. (do you like our photo-bomber…huh??)
Afterwards, we had lunch...
…and I went back to the hotel for a nap. It's so fun traveling with the kids, they go with the flow and take in the moment without a complaint. My family has been on this journey with me, supportive the whole time! (hey, when did I become the shortest in the group?)
