The marathon is over. Happy-sad.
I took last week off from running to let my feet and legs recoop.
It's true that you physically and mentally go through some adjustments post-race week. I rode the runner's high through Tuesday, but by Wednesday I was unusually tired at night, practically falling into a coma on the sofa at 8pm. Once again, so many similarities to having a baby!
The pre-race carb loading really threw me!! I never felt so full in my life. Along with carbs, I needed to break up with cliff bars, lara bars, power bars, and powerade, just for a little bit too. ick. But wait, what was the annoying headache I had all last week? Withdrawal?
This week I feel more in sync than last. I'm feeling good! and may join my group tonight for a short run and a little chit chat.
This overall experience has been amazing.
You can really learn a lot about yourself by setting and working towards your goals. Whatever they may be. I'm thinking of all our self imposed limitations...And if you put your mind to it, they can be overcome. Not overnight, but day by day.
The marathon is over, but it is really just the beginning :)
