Last week: 36 total miles
Chicagoland's skies are blue and the air is warm.
I'm giddy.
It's shorts-wearing-weather and it makes me lighter on my feet shedding a pound or two of Nike Combat wear.
Last Saturday I ran 16 miles. I'm getting the hang of this distance thing and completely amazed that I am where I am.
A milestone.
It is like a dream come true when 20 feels pretty good and 16 feels almost effortless (I'm using "effortless" very loosely).
Crazy talk, right?
I remember when I was excited that I ran for 20 minutes straight, then 5 miles, then 8, then 12...
Last summer I was talking with my friend Jen, and at that time she was so proud to have run 2 miles.
This past November she ran the Navy Pier Perfect 10 and I know she is signed up to do the Soldier Field 10 Mile Run this spring.
And on Saturday I saw her bright and early, on the bike path running solo! What dedication.
Way to go!!
That is how it all starts....
