Running Log

Last week: 39 total miles

On Saturday I ran 20 miles (for the second time in my life), the longest distance in training for this marathon.

20 miles is a crazy long way to run. And I did have some trepidation about running it solo. I know and you know, that you can really start to talk yourself out of something, especially something like running for 3 hours and 10 minutes straight.

(side note: next time I train, I will be running with a group specifically training for a full marathon. Don't get me wrong. I l-o-v-e my running group but no one was training for a full and when it comes down to running over 12 miles, companionship is key.)

I texted my sweat sister, Rachel, to see if she would consider running the last leg with me, so hoping I was not going to make her feel obligated.

She not only agreed, but was excited that I asked her. I swung by her house pretty darn close to the guesstimated time I could run 15 miles, picked her up...and we ran the last 5 miles together.

Through the forest preserve. No banjo-playing-hillbilly sightings this time.

What a life saver! We kept at a nice clip and talked and talked and talked. The time flew by. Alone, would have seemed like an eternity.

Companionship is key.

(I have so much more to say...I'm in the mood to write my running memoirs today and how they correlate with the happenings in my life, but I will have to stop here for now :)
