Perfect 10

Actually, Perfect 12.
(RFM, not shown, taking the picture)

Last Saturday was Navy Pier Perfect 10, 10k or 10 miler. I didn't run, but cheered on my fellow running group. I did get in 4 miles along the lake. It was a grey day, but that's Chicago for ya'. Running in the city with the lake on one side and then skyline on the other, is breathtaking (no pun intended) no matter what the weather.

Afterwards, we had a wonderful brunch at Local Root - farm to table concept. Great atmosphere, and company!

Last week: 16 miles total
Saturday: 4 miles

Here's to a strong running week!

Into the Woods - A Little OFF

Tuesday: 5 miles

Tuesday night we met at a gorgeous wooded trail in our area – crushed limestone path, meandering creek. Here are a few of the folks that ran that night. We almost lost two of them.

Actually we did!

The trail winds around quite a bit and part of it is an island which is pretty small (0.30 miles around) but like Groundhogs Day, you can keep going round and round before you realize you are in the same place.

Hey, wait a minute, didn't we pass that a few minutes ago?

And in the woods every thing kinda looks the same…

Anyhoo, we went for burgers and beer afterwards. Except for the two ladies that got lost. We found them, but I don't think they were too happy :(

I plan to train more often on this trail for the half marathon I'm running on Labor Day - the back end of the race is in these woods. Lots of hills to practice on.

As you know, it can get pretty hot and humid in Chicagoland.

humidity + woods = lots of bugs + lots of OFF

(and they said there would be no math)

Die Hard Running Group

We have a great group of runners that meet every Tuesday and Wednesday night and then again on Saturday mornings. We meet up with similar workouts and then we run. Each of us has our own pace and goals. Although we don't all run at the same pace, we run together - ya know what I'm sayin'.

We support each other wholeheartedly. Being a part of a group makes things so much easier, like getting out and running when it's 16°, in the dark.

The previous night it snowed 6 inches which prompted me to buy Yaktrax. They are predicting another 2-3 inches for Saturday, so I thought it was worth the $30 investment.

Rest week for me (you would think that means kick back and put your feet up, but "rest" means not running as much).

8 miles tomorrow.

TGIF!
