12 days until the marathon.
Saturday I ran 14 miles, my last long distance run until October 9th.
Now the taper.
Mentally, counter intuitive training for a marathon. If getting your head around 26.2 miles isn't enough, how about not running a lot the last two weeks prior to the race. Mind games, I tell ya.
But did I ever mention, I love a challenge?
Let's try to remember that the training won't go away in 12 days. Tapering is a part of the training.
Rest is very important. And what I hear is that the conditioning is done up to this point and muscles and joints and tendons are recovering from many miles of stress.

I've also been thinking that afterwards, a vacation would be nice...
