Sitting is a Pain in My Butt

"...spending most of your waking hours planted on your keister is terrible for your health."

I laughed out loud when I saw my friend's post on FB about sitting. The illustrations, hands down, drew me in, along with the what seems to be taboo topic of sitting.

I feel it every day. Sitting is a pain in my butt! The worst is standing up and walking when I've been sitting for too long. My leg doesn't want to move as it should - it's just not right.

Ever since my pulled hamstring, that still nags on, sitting makes it worse.

Lo and behold 7 simple exercises to undo the damage...

The post was linked to a fabulous site called The Art of Manliness.

So undo the damage of sitting and check out these 7 exercises. Get down on the floor and do them!

And when you're done with that, check out:

The Clouds Parted and a Ray of Light Beamed Down

Finally.
A break-through.

This morning was the best I've felt since Boston (April 21st).

I woke up early and ran with an ease I haven't felt in so long, that I began to think I would never feel it again! (speed work 8 x 1:30 x 2:00) My high-ham is still buggin', but it's healing and manageable, so YAY!

Why did I finally have such a fantastic run?

A few thoughts on this…
(Do us runners over think or what?)

Last weekend I made a promise to myself to drink lots of water everyday, eat lots fruits and veggies (and cook my own meals), limit my wine intake to none durning the week, and be conscious of my posture at all times.

Is this why I felt great? Or…

Am I wiped out after work to run well and in the morning I am at my best?

Or…

Am I finally recovered from that virus I got before Boston and from Boston itself?

It may be all of the above!

Regardless, it's good to be back in the game :)

Back on the Track - 200s

Today is May . . .

Getting back to the track was humbling! My 200s felt like slow motion, my legs so heavy and I couldn't keep up with my group.

On top of it, I still have that pre-marathon knot/pain where the hammy meets the glute. Rolling it doesn't seem to be helping.

Any suggestions?

Rest Week

It snowed again pretty much all day yesterday. There was no question about running outside. Although the footing was not great, I hope not to run on the treadmill again, ever :)

Achilles tendonitis is whispering at my door along with his friend knee discomfort (on the opposite side). I'm not answering, but warding them off with lots of foam rolling and trying my hardest to maintain good form on the snowy roads.

This rest week is more than welcome!
